Christians And The Bible

I have encountered many who profess to be Christians but have never read the Bible or have only read certain parts of the Bible. My question is how can you be a follower of Christ without reading about what Christians are called to do? Christians and the Bible go hand in hand.

Stating that my family is Christian, or I grew up Christian does not automatically mean inclusion into God’s kingdom. You are more a fan than a follower because being a Christian is not the same as following a sporting event or a celebrity. You cannot be a spectator to Christianity. It requires that you surrender and sacrifice. A profession of faith in Jesus Christ. Loving God and thy neighbor. A renewing of the mind. Dying to oneself. Picking up your cross and following Jesus.

“Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭16:24‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Jesus Saved The World

Jesus died for our sins and in doing so He saved the world. We must believe and confess that Jesus is Lord. Repent of our sins and sin no more. We are also commissioned to go and share this good news. What is this good news and where can it be found? The Bible of course. It is where we will find and meet Jesus where He shares the Gospel. The reason He was sent and why He was so desperately needed. Jesus came for sinners so that we would not perish.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
‭John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭ESV

Spend Time In The Word‬‬

Therefore, to be a Christian requires that we spend some time in the Bible to change the way we view the world and how we should relate to God and others. Also, to understand God’s will for us and to have a deeper relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have made it a habit of spending each morning with the Lord.  It keeps me grounded and on point to what I am called to do each day. It restores my soul when I am overwhelmed by the world.  Believe me, we have so much to worry about and be anxious about these days.  Therefore, I need God’s love letters more than ever. I need his word to transform my anxious heart.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Hand In Hand

There is so much in the Bible that does not line up with the world because God’s ways are not like ours. He is good and we are not even on our best days. I pray that every Christian would dedicate a year or more of their life to reading the Bible. It will transform you.  You will learn how much God loves us and how much he wants to be with us.  Christians and the Bible go hand in hand. Read my blog Old Testament vs. New Testament for more insights.

Peace and joy,

Sabrina

Thank you for the encouraging words. I will be sharing this with people. I talked to my daughter about sharing this with my granddaughter Mariyah. She is a saver and we have read children’s books on money. I thought this is a perfect way to teach her young about what God say about money. Have you thought about a children’s plan. I will chat with you soon.

Hi Linda, I have not thought about a children’s plan but I will consider it. If we start teaching them at a young age they may always have financial freedom. Thanks so much for your support and suggestions.

  4. Wonderful post, Sabrina!! Thank you for point out the importance of daily Bible reading. A lot of people these days are just “Jesus fans” and not really committed to knowing Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. It is evident that you are an avid reader and worshipper of the Lord Jesus Christ. Thanks for being real and I pray that you will have a wonderful success with your blogging website. Take care and God bless.
